April 2015 Wrap-Up: Books

Hello Munchkins!
So, it is now May (insert Justin Timberlake meme if convenient) and I just wanted to say that April has been a wonderful month. The topic of today's post is to talk about all the amazing books I read this month. Considering the fact that school started on 1st and all the stress this new semester has drenched me in, that is, without taking into consideration the ever nearing dance competition thingy we have before summer starts and all the exhaustion from that, I sure managed to fit in a lot of good books. So here goes nothing, I guess.

So, I've been wanting to read Legend for, oh, 3 years now? Probably more. I've had my issues with acquiring this book. But let's not talk about that. Fast forward to April, when I went on a no-procrastination-roll and instantly ordered an eBook and got down to reading. But may I just say how short this book was? Yeah. It was.

❝ She's an American beauty
I'm an American psycho
-American Beauty/American Psycho, Fall Out Boy

Gayle Forman! Oh, how I love this woman. I heard about I Was Here on the PolandbananasBOOKS BookTube channel, and I instantly pre-ordered the eBook. I don't much to say except that the suicide theme of this book was spot-on. That's it. Peace out.

❝ There's a firefly
Loose tonight
Better catch it
Before it burns this place down
-FireFly, Ed Sheeran

I don't know what I was expecting when I delved into this book. There are times in the Shadowhunter Chronicles where I felt that the Clave has been too harsh. I've always kind of hated their methods. Besides, the Shadowhunter's Codex is pretty much useless unless you really are Ascending. I did enjoy Jace's vanity and Simon's nerdiness throughout the side notes. Clary's sketches were bad-ass as always. So yeah.

❝ Gray for knowledge best untold
Bone for those who don't grow old ❞
-Excerpt From Shadowhunter Children's Rhyme

I guess it was a good history lesson?

❝ From the marshy bogs of Queerditch
Grew a sport so fine and fair
In which each witch and wizard
Would take flight through the air. ❞
-Anthem for Quidditch team, Puddlemore United

❝ Later on, we'll conspire,

As we dream by the fire
To face the unafraid, the plans we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland. ❞
-Winter Wonderland/Don't Worry Be Happy, Pentatonix

❝ Say you'll remember me
Standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset babe
Say you'll see me again, even if it's
Just in your Wildest Dreams. ❞
-Wildest Dreams, Taylor Swift

❝ Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only hit the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go. ❞
-Let Her Go, Passenger

❝ And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above.
-Pompeii, Bastille

Disappointed.

❝ Eh, Eh. There's notching else I can say.
-Eh Eh, Lady GaGa

"Are you trying to come up with a super-hot Asian guy, so you can prove me wrong? Because there aren't any. I've had my whole life to think about this." What I don't get is what this book is implying?? Do Americans really think that Asia has zero hot people? And here I thought ya'll loved Kpop boybands? Excuse you, but I live in Asia, and I've seen my share of hot boys. What do they think Bollywood industry consists of? Ugh.
❝ Cause you can hear it in the silence
You can feel it on the way home
You can see it with the lights out
You are in love, true love.
-You Are In Love, Taylor Swift

This is one book that I don't have any lyrics for yet. I'm not sure if it's a good/bad thing, but it's frustrating. I won't get into the deets, but I liked the themes in this one.

And that is a wrap! Whew, this post took up the better part of my day surely! But I'm done now and I can say April was a success. Have you read any of these books? What are you're thoughts? Comment down below and if you wanna friend me on Goodreads, be my guest! Also, if you feel like giving any recommendations based on what you've made about my taste, you can do that Oh, and blog-post ideas are also very welcome. :D Also, I'm aware of the highlighting and CANNOT seem to get rid of it.

What Do You Believe In?

About a week ago, a YouTube channel by the name of JacksGap announced an installment to my favourite project of their's. The Skype Collaboration. Here are the links to information about the series and some results-
Anyways, the project is probably done receiving submissions and I'm a little too occupied to film a submission anyways. But I guess I can still post my answer on here, so.

What Do I believe in?

The answer didn't take much thought. One Word, One Article. The Internet. I don't just say this as one of those 'Sh*t Internet Addicts Say' things. I mean it. The Internet is what ultimately has brought me to everything I am passionate about. Whether I'm using Spotify for music, FaceTime for talking to loved ones, YouTube for Inspiration, Amazon for buying books, The Hunt for finding clothes, Spark Notes for study help or this blog for projecting my thoughts. It all eventually comes down to one thing and this is it. I believe in the internet. I believe in the people on the internet. Creators, making their place in the world and viewers, being able to discover that they belong to something bigger. The Internet has brought together nearly every aspect of my life in one way or another. What else is there to believe in?

But anyways, that was my two cents. What are your thoughts? What do you believe in? Discuss in the comments section below.

Apology + Promises

Hello, people who probably don't care about this blog anymore!
It has probably been a year or maybe more since my last post, and I am fully aware of the promises I made and their not-coming-through-at-all. I've thought a lot about my neglecting of this blog. A lot. Today, I decided to do something about it. This past year, I've done a lot. I've had a lot of ideas. There are a billion chambers of secrets that have been dug under my mind palace. I don't want to make promises I can't keep. Instead, I'll cut a deal. If I am able to maintain a post every two weeks or more on this blog, I'll reward myself with a good book. If at any point, I refrain to post, I won't read anything at all till I make a new post. Fair enough? Maybe. I'll try and keep this deal up till the summer. Who know? It might actually work out.
Coming on to the apology part, there isn't much to say except that I am sorry. I really am.

Remember The Music

Remember The Music

Welcome to the preface of my Monthly music series, Remember The Music. In this first ever series on my blog, I'm planning to publish a post at the end month where I talk about my music favourites of that particular month. My aim with this series is to put more of myself and music tastes for ya'll to know. Another aim of mine would be to try and help people with a similar taste to mine to discover new artists they may like. It's not a problem if our tastes aren't similar cause I am a very broad-minded person when it comes to music and I like to listen to most kinds of music. At the end of every month, just remember to check out  ohsnapwhatamidoing.blogspot.in to see if there is an artist in my monthly favourites list that you haven't heard of and think that it may just be worthwhile checking the artist out. I can't promise you'll love my taste but I really would appreciate it if you gave my choices a try.
I actually wanted to publish my May 2014 chapter right now but cause it isn't the end of the  month yet, I'll save that post for later. Besides, because this introduction is not exactly short, I'd rather save you the trouble of reading an extremely lengthy post and publish this as a preface instead. I guess that is pretty much it for now. =)

Hey There!

Hi to the person who is reading this. Welcome to my second attempt at starting a blog! You can call me Shrishti, a complicated name that I wish weren't as much so. I was hoping that little by little you can get to know me through future posts on this blog. A little insight to what I'm hoping to post on this blog:

  • Reviews on stuff from multiple categories such as a song, book or maybe even a piece of furniture
  • Posts that include my photography from a day in my life or from a trip
  • Help more and more people with things like DIYs, Life Tips or supporting them in projects and places in life they need help and someone to talk to
  • All things me! Since it is my personal blog, I shall proceed to selfishly make it all about me and no one else at times.

I already have a few ideas written down for posts that may or may not be from the points listed above and I hope & strive to make this blog active and have you enjoy it! =)
